The recent wildfire that ravaged Mono County along the Eastern border of California is known as the "Mountain View Fire." It began on November 17, 2020, at approximately 12:15pm. The fire ravaged 80 buildings and displaced almost all the residents of Walker and Coleville. Tragically, it also took the life of one civilian.
Investigators are working to discover the cause of the fire, and Liberty Utilities is a suspected cause. The utility company came under scrutiny for not shutting off power in time to prevent the fire.
